The best! lessons were going on in Reception. In the morning they got to do have a free section but after that they went into Year 6. There they made books about themselves they wrote about what they like doing in school and what they like doing outside or school. They did this to create a bond between Reception and someone older in Year 6. Lastly they made profiles of themselves.

School council went round finding out what the classes have been doing here is the news of Year 1. They painted great pictures of themselves the pictures look really realistic. They did there finishing touches to their class handbook. They were involved did team work and they quoted that they love doing team work.


We interviewed Joe and Lucy from Year 2 and they told us that theme week is brilliant and superb.
Lucy said “When they did her goal she would know she had achieved it but if she just kept it in her mind she might forget her target and she'd not improve”.
Joe said he liked interviewing the Mr Richardson who is a school Governor, Mrs. Fitz, Mrs. Webster and Mrs. Keelan because Joe found out a lot about their jobs e.g. there are only 12 governors.

Today in Year 3 children were finishing off their handbook, we interviewed Erin and Will they told us that making the front cover of the handbook was exciting and the competition was tense but Erin’s front cover was voted the best. The best thing Will and Erin have found out was all the complicated and time consuming things teachers and governors do to make the children have great time at school.

Handbooks seemed to be the most popular thing today as Year 4 also finished their class handbook Millie and Harken were interviewed and they said that the profile pages were the best part of the week as children got to learn about themselves and others. Millie said that she had discovered what the teachers do in the questions and answer sessions which proved very interesting as we learned about the teachers and they learned about us in the profile page. The thing that was Harken’s favourite thing was when he discovered what Investors in Pupils meant.


Shoot, shoot, goal! Year 5’s targets were the first thing they did in the morning. Rosie said everything was great. Ellis told us that he thought PE with Year 1 was the best sessions this week, as well as FUN!!! Teachers have to get lots of degrees to become a teacher and to become a governor you have to have something to do with the school either living in Barrington Road or sending a Christmas card to an ex-governor in Mr. Richardson case. Rosie told us that the whole week was extremely busy.


Last, but not least, came Year 6 and we interviewed Emily and Ben who stated their favorite thing about the week so far was making a picture book with Year R which proved quite a handful when we tried to make them talk to us. Ben learned how to put someone in a recovery position in First Aid Training and that was a very fun morning. Emily said that they made an article about the whole week using reporter’s style. Over all they enjoyed the week and said it was a lot of fun and very funny.

Year 4 discussed what jobs must be done at home and what job they would like to do in the future, Footballer and Actress were their top chosen professions. Ben was sure he wanted to be a footballer, while Kalli is hoping to be a musician.

The day began with a special lesson in Road Safety and pollution for Ye ars 5 and 6 in which they learnt about road crossing, pollution and the benefits of walking to school. In the afternoon they carried on with their class induction handbook. Gemma and Alex said their favourite lesson was personal targets because they enjoyed thinking about their future. The class have made a great target wall with all their plans incorporated on it.

Year 6 have been discussing their personal achievements. They brought in certificates and trophies to see all different achievements gained outside of school. The class have also begun creating an individual profile to help any new pupils or adults find out about their class. Victoria & Robbie said that they enjoyed designing the cover of the handbook so it would be eye catching, therefore new pupils would want to explore it.

Louie and Tilly work on their charts of jobs they'd like to do in the future. They have been thinking about the roles and responsibilities of a variety of jobs that people do and came up with their 5 favourite ones.

In today’s sessions, Year 1 have been looking at different aspects of their school life and used the computer to word process their information. Mollie stated her favourite part of today was using the computers to demonstrate her findings. Josh’s favourite session today was team work and co-operation activities.

Job roles and responsibilities were a hot topic in Year 2, who discussed the work they do in class. They have also been carefully thinking and creating designs for a front and back cover for their class handbook. They are going to have a class vote to choose the winning design. Tilly and Katie stated that they really enjoyed the design process.

Alex and Mustafa, from Year 3, have been finishing their class handbook they told us that they enjoyed learning how to make a profile page, also they had fun finding out about other children’s favourite activities from their handbooks within their class.

Year 6 attended a first aid session in the morning, they found out what to do if they find someone injured, administering bandages and emergency first aid.

Later they created individual targets to work towards, it was important that they were measurable - this means that they gave a specific statement about what they wanted to achieve eg: "to remember my Swimming Kit every week next term" because these targets are measurable, we will be able to judge more clearly if we have achieved them.

We are now into the second day of our theme week “Investors in pupils.” At about half past one the whole school went into the hall to conduct an interview with Mrs. Keelan and present at the time with her was acting head teacher Victoria Jones.

Currently we are interviewing two year one pupils, Holly and William about the interview. This is what they have to say.
“One of the jobs Mrs. Keelan does is important paperwork,” says Holly.
William was asked by Faith which university did Mrs. Keelan go to. He answered correctly by saying London University. Also he said that Mrs. Keelan’s hobby was gardening.

We have also worked on Team building skills -all classes tried out sessions of problem solving activities in PE that involved listening to and working together - some of the tasks were really tricky including everyone being put into order standing on a bench - without anyone getting off!

All the classes have targets that they have set themselves.
